Why are we doing Start Where You Are?

Because Jesus wants you to love your neighbor! Think about it. With this most basic motivation you can literally change someone else’s life forever! Do you truly believe that Jesus is the one who brings people into your life? Then, start where you are, as you are, to show the love of Christ to that person.

Who is your neighbor?

Anyone that God brings into your life is your neighbor. It could be a friend from school, a colleague at work, a family member, someone of a different color, language, culture or religion, an enemy, someone who is poor, disabled, marginalized or a complete stranger. Our MBC neighbors are primarily the people who live and work in the Greater Tysons community. We must start where we are and be a good neighbor.
 

How will you love your neighbor?

Pick the tool that fits the situation: A) Do something good that meets a practical need; B) Share practical advice from the Bible; and C) Explain the message of Christ in a way that makes sense. Do good, Share, Explain. Jesus did these to love his neighbors. So can you.

What is the plan?

First, ask God where you should start. Perhaps it will be with someone in your life. Perhaps it will be by joining a ministry on campus that reaches out to others. Maybe you’ll do both. No matter, now is the time to act, to Do good, Share and Explain.

Start Where You Are is your alert system to scan your environment for neighbors that Jesus is bringing your way. Natalie scanned and acted. Now, Tony’s life will be changed forever.
