Breakaway - Saturdays

Breakaway is Access Ministry's fun Saturday respite care program for children with special needs age 2-25, who are living at home. Breakaway, which is held twice a month on Saturdays from 10:00am - 3:00pm, and allows parents a much needed break. Activities include special shows, fieldtrips, games and crafts, movies, music and even a moon bounce! Pediatric nurses are onsite to administer medicines and handle pertinent medical issues. Breakaway is staffed by volunteers from McLean Bible Church and the community. The cost for Breakaway is $20 for the first child and $10 for each additional child of special needs. 

Breakaway Basics:

  • To participate in any Access program, each child must have a current family profile and consent form on file.
  • Parents must provide a lunch and drink for their child. Due to food allergies/sensitivities, only the food items provided will be fed to your child.
  • Please label all personal items with your child's full name (medicines, lunch box, diaper bag and clothing).
  • Children should be dressed in comfortable clothes.
  • Breakaway is a full day program; therefore, partial day reservations are not accepted.

  • New families are required obtain a new family packet, fill out paperwork, and attend an intake meeting prior to participating in respite programs. Please contact Mary Hasson, 703-639-2000, x8654, for this information.

  • If you pay for a session and have to cancel, the amount you paid will be applied to your next visit with us or we can credit your card back the amount taken for that month.
