Welcome to the Creative Arts Ministry
A word from Don Hollenbeck, Jr, Executive Producer:
When I was a boy I got to step out of the Bible, literally. I was in the fifth grade and was cast as a soldier in telling the story of the baby Jesus. I loved it. I had a shield and more importantly, a sword. With the gold paint that rubbed off on my sweaty hands I was worried the audience would see it was actually made of cardboard. But I was sure the broomstick and rubber arrowhead on the broomstick had them all fooled.
Someone opened the large page of the Bible in front of me and I stepped out, careful not to trip on the wooden frame of the set piece. My life suddenly moved into slow motion. The flare of the lights got my heart pumping. Somehow words came out of my mouth, in spite of the fact that my neck was flush and hot. And then it came—the praise, the applause. That was probably the moment I realized that I was meant for the stage.
Now, fast-forward about four decades and that memory is as fresh as the applause was addicting. Here in CAM, I have the unbelievable privilege of putting the believer artist in the role of telling that same story. I love seeing artists rendering, singing, composing, piqé arabesque-ing the word alive. I love to see the lights come up on performers in motion, knowing that there are also hearts beating in the darkness, and other performers with headsets on, fingers on faders and satellite components warm with use.
